Make your own classic Italian tomato sauce from Looye JOYN tomatoes, oregano, chili pepper, garlic and thyme.

Peel and press the garlic.
Peel the onions and chop them finely.
Cut the chilies in half, remove the seeds and slice into wafer-thin strips.
Rinse the Looye JOYN tomatoes and cut into segments.
Chop the tinned tomatoes into large chunks.
Heat the olive oil in the pan and fry the onion with the garlic and chilies for 5 minutes.
Add the tomato puree and gently fry for 2 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
Add the Looye JOYN tomatoes and the bunch of thyme, stir and simmer gently for 15 minutes.
Add the tinned tomatoes, crumble in the stock cubes and simmer for about 1.5 hours on low heat to thicken the tomato sauce slightly and intensify the flavour.
Remove the bunch of thyme and mix the sauce with the hand blender until smooth. Stir in the dried oregano and season with salt and pepper to taste.
Ecco pronto – a delicious tomato sauce that goes well with any kind of pasta or can be pimped up with some meatballs or fried strips of bacon. For a vegan meal, serve with oven-roasted vegetables.
